All Eyez On Me – Tupac’s Biopic To Be Released This Year

After Lauren Cohan joined the cast of upcoming film on Tupac Amaru Shakur to play the role of a mentor, it seems all hands are on deck to ensure the timely release of the artistes’ biopic, ‘All Eyez On Me’.

Produced by a team consisting of L.T. Hutton , David C. Robinson and James G. Robinson and backed with a budget of $45 million from Morgan Creek Productions, the duo of Ed Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft put together a script to reveal the chronicles of 2Pac’s rise to fame which span more than a decade (1987–1996) in the music industry.

The film features Danai Gurira as 2Pac’s mom – Afeni Shakur, Jamal Woolard as Biggie Smalls, Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac Shakur and Harold House Moore as Dr Dre among a host of others.

It’s unbelievable to reckon with the fact that after more than 17 years of the rapper’s demise, no worthy biopic was released to honour the great rapper, until recently, after the release of “Straight Outta Compton” – a film loosely connected to 2Pac. Even Christopher Wallace aka Notorious B.I.G got a biopic to his honour.

Straight Outta Compton enjoyed huge success at the cinemas and has grossed over $200 Million since its release. Many Hollywood based motion picture studios have been looking to make a similar project.

The biopic, “All Eyez On Me”, is named after Tupac’s fourth studio album and is set for release on November 18, 2016.
